Today, the new Guide “Choosing best value in contracting food services – A guide for private and public client organisations”, jointly elaborated by the European Social Partners in the Contract Catering sector, EFFAT and FoodServiceEurope, was officially launched in Hungary, in the presence of Rétvári Bence, State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry for Human Ressources, the Hungarian social partners for the catering sector, VISZ and VIMOSZ, the European social partners EFFAT and and FoodServiceEurope, and more than 80 representatives from public authorities, catering companies, etc.

Kerstin Howald, EFFAT Tourism Sector Secretary, welcomed the very active involvement of VISZ and VIMOSZ in the European sectoral social dialogue and particularly in the elaboration of the updated Guide. She called upon the Hungarian government to reconsider their decision to withdraw support for sectoral social dialogues, as strong sectoral social dialogue at national level is very important for a successful sectoral social dialogue at European level.

Zsuzsanna Varnai, General Secretary of VISZ, the Hungarian trade union for hospitality and tourism workers, welcomed the Guide as an important tool to guarantee decent work and pay in the catering sector, and proposed to set up a joint committee to monitor the implementation of the Guide.
