After almost three years of negotiation Management left the negotiating table when the employee representatives refused to sign an unacceptable proposal

Since the creation of Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) in 2016, Trade Unions have denounced continued attacks on jobs and incessant requests for enhanced labor flexibility.
Over the last 2,5 years, more than 2500 jobs have been destroyed, which is equivalent to approximately 10% of CCEP’s total workforce at the moment of its creation.

While CCEP boasts about its environmental and social commitments, it pursues the shareholders’ interests alone.

CCEP’s industrial strategy escapes the local hold entirely. That’s why the establishment of a well-functioning European Works Council is essential as it would allow for a timely information and consultation at the appropriate level, where decisions are taken.

However, almost three years have passed since the EWC negotiations started, and Management keeps proposing an agreement depriving workers from being heard on company decisions. At the last meeting held on 22 May 2019, the company insisted on a proposal which is unacceptable.

CCEP Management wants an EWC to be informed and consulted:

  • only when at least 468 people are impacted in at least two countries
  • only when job losses or restructuring occur at the same time in more countries

In this way, the EWC would be deprived of its core responsibilities to establish a permanent constructive dialogue with Management and be informed and consulted on the potential impact of a matter at an early stage, before decisions are taken!

Management informed the employee representative that the meeting on 22 May 2019 would be the last meeting!

When we refused to accept their scandalous offer, Management left the negotiating table.

All countries have stood together and united in this position in the interest of all European employees.

For us every worker count and we will not be bullied into signing an agreement that is detrimental to the interests of employees that we represent!!

We ask Management representative to reconsider their position and resume negotiation.
