To all EFFAT Member Organisations
Dear colleagues,
As the COVID-19 continues to spread across Europe, we believe it is of utmost importance to implement concrete initiatives to protect the health of EFFAT Staff and EFFAT affiliates. We have therefore decided to take the following precautionary measures. Please note that further updates will be sent in the weeks to come.
- EFFAT Meetings and Trainings (abroad or in Brussels)
All EFFAT meetings which require our members to travel to the event, are cancelled from today until 19 of April (end of Easter holidays). This includes all meetings and events linked to projects, trainings and conferences, etc. This deadline may of course be extended at a later stage. As far as possible, EFFAT will try to replace face to face meetings with Videoconferences.
- Social dialogue meetings
In case you had already booked a flight for an EFFAT Social Dialogue meeting please note that the European Commission has confirmed that for social dialogue or permanent committee meetings which are affected, “as far as participants have already booked tickets and cannot cancel the service or obtain reimbursement from any other source the Commission will provide reimbursement.”
- EFFAT Staff participation in Meetings or Events taking place abroad
Please note that EFFAT staff are asked NOT to travel to meetings or events taking place abroad until the 19th April.
EFFAT political staff will limit their travels, and decisions on attendance at meetings abroad will be taken on a case by case basis.
- If you have contracted the virus
Any colleague who has participated in an EFFAT meeting in the past 14 days and has contracted the COVID-19 virus, is required to communicate this immediately to the EFFAT Secretariat so that we can take the appropriate measures.
For your information please also note that additional important measures have been taken fo the EFFAT Staff based in Brussels including promotion of telework and precautionary measures for meetings organised in Brussel for people based in Belgium.
In solidarity,
Kristjan Bragason
EFFAT General Secretary
